Earlier this week, a client commented that she loved my Fall decorations.
She later added that she had always intended to decorate for Fall and Halloween once she had a child. Unfortunately, I see this client due to her daughter being still born.
We discussed that she still loves fall decorations and that although she does not have her daughter, it does not mean she doesn’t deserve to enjoy something beautiful that makes her smile.
A few weeks ago, I spent an afternoon putting away the seashells of summer and pulling out the fall pumpkins. (For someone who is a summer girl, I have an abundance of fall decor – but the colors are so beautiful). At first, I didn’t feel like it (my grief has been exhausting lately) but as I redesigned rooms I felt better. Each day it makes me smile to pull out of my driveway and see our front porch. I enjoy the silver pumpkins on our dining room table.
And enjoying things is what this life is about. Decorating is a part of my life that does bring me happiness. In the past I’ve probably over done it but nonetheless, it makes me happy.
On the way home that day, my client stopped at Lowes and bought two mums. She e-mailed me a picture of her front door with the mums. “Tomorrow, I’m going to see if I can find some pumpkins” she shared.
Are there things in your life that you are waiting to do?
There are many things that each of us put off until sometime later. Our reasons may be financial, or not enough time, or simply later. Don’t put off enjoying something if there is no reason why you shouldn’t do it today.
Below, I’m sharing a few of my Fall decorations (inside and out).
Have a great fall weekend and perhaps spend some time doing something you’ve been putting off until later.
