Today I am celebrating!
Three years ago today, I choose to begin this space with my very first post. The beginnings of this blog were an extension of therapeutic email updates and journal writing. I was 6 weeks past the death of my mother, one week away from leaving my job and had no idea where my life would be going.
I knew very little about blogging but I knew the power of writing and I desired to share the story of grief. I felt it was important to share the journey through the eyes of someone who was known as an expert in the field. This space has been a significant part of my healing as I shared my journey. My hope has always been if I could help one person with my words and experiences then I have accomplished what I desired from this blog.
Three years ago, I was picking up the pieces. We had lost a baby, lost my Mom, I left a job and would later lose my Grandmother. At that time I could barely think an hour ahead much less three years into the future.
I’ve accomplished a lot over the past three years. I’ve been an adjunct professor, become a trainer, taught myself about blogging, photography and graphics and established my own counseling practice. These are all things I probably would not have done years ago.
I’ve changed. Life and grief will do that to you and I am blessed to have chronicles of my changes within this space. Grief and being is transition is difficult work but I hope this space can help others see that it is possible to rebuild.
Why You Need To Keep Reading How To Make A Life
Life doesn’t come with a how to manual but it doesn’t mean we can’t each make our own. I also feel it’s important to realize we are all not going to be following the same path.
This space is for anyone who is trying to figure out where they are in life, where they want to go and what they want to be. I daily work with women who are dealing with the struggles of daily life but specifically with transitions. My intentions are to provide posts that help to guide and provide support.
Why Should You Listen To Me
Honestly, I know what I am talking about and I know the struggle is real. I am not someone who simply received a degree and is quoting theories and books. I attempt to walk the talk that I write in this space and share with my clients. However, I am not perfect. I fail on a regular basis, have lost and gained the same 15 pounds and (as this blog shares) grieve just like anyone else. My own journey allows me to be a coach, cheerleader and support to others. I’ve been down the road and can provide somewhat of a road map.
Where Do I Go From Here
I will be honest that staying status quo is comfortable. So many changes in a short time frame makes one crave calm. We all need calm but it is when there are waves in our life that we learn the most. I’ve been feeling the winds beginning to push me to do new and different things but I’m uncertain of where they will take me. What I do know is this space will be an extension of whatever does occur.
I ask that you make this space a place you stop on a regular basis. I promise to help you gain insight, become more self aware and help you make the best life you can for yourself.
In celebration of these past three years, I’m fortunate enough to join these lovely ladies in giving away a $100 Starbucks Giftcard.
