It’s officially the middle of August friends. I think I am one of the few people who continues to truly love the heat of summer and dog days of summer. As everyone else is anxiously awaiting Fall, I find myself holding on to the days a little tighter.
As we approach September, I hope you continue to enjoy each day and find things to appreciate.
Here’s what I have been appreciating this week.
As much as I am an extrovert and love people, I struggle at the thought of attending a networking event. Networking is important for each of us (regardless of your profession) and Julie from Participation Medal Wife provides some great suggestions on how to take the anxiety out of this event.
As I prepared for a self care presentation this week, this post from Nimah from a Whole New You stood out. Many times one is exhausted but there is a push to keep going regardless of the damage that will be done emotionally and physically. Nimah presents excellent questions and points to consider and I hope you will take time and read.
Not sure where to begin in regards to your next self help book? This gallery gives you a short synopsis of some of the best known books and will give you a great place to start.
I discussed why you need to stop watching the news last fall and Gretchen Rubin expands upon the topic. Potato Chip news is what she describes as news that is repetitive, requires little effort to absorb and can be consumed in massive quantities. It can be news, a reality show or sports. Although I do think it is important to have some “brain candy”, I also agree that a constant bombardment can harm us.
Have we connected on Instagram (howtomakealife) yet? I’ve decided to up my game and focus more on how I am making a daily life. I share our food, drinks, travels, inspiration and some fails along the way. I have even taken the plunge and am using Instastories – occasionally you may discover my car karaoke song of the day!
What You Missed From Me This Week
Enjoy Your Weekend!!
