Are you existing or living?
Are you present for the moments in your life or do they slip by without acknowledgment? Is your calendar so full of errands that you forget to taste your lunch (if you even have lunch)?
Is your life in a place where you are reevaluating where you are at with your health, career, family and dreams?
How to Make a Life is a space for anyone desiring to live life rather than exist. My goal is to help you become more aware of how you are living your life and explore the world of possibilities of change.
I am a clinical social worker/counselor and life coach. This space is where I use my own life as a blueprint to help others find motivation, hope and inspiration for their own journey.
I feel that each of us are far more than a few descriptors we can share about ourselves.
I can tell you that I am:
- a dedicated wife and friend
- self care advocate and healthy living seeker
- travel lover both close to home and afar
- lover of fashion in the home and my closet
- adventure and happiness seeker
- journal writer
- infertility sufferer and griever
- and believer that gratitude can change your life.
As a former grief counselor, How to Make a Life was started after the death of my Mom in 2013. As grief is often a topic that others do not want to discuss, I felt it was important to share that my emotions were no different than someone without my training. A death is often a time when one begins to reevaluate their life and question “How do I make a life?” That is exactly what I did during my grief.
I have dealt with illness, multiple losses, infertility and many life issues. As a result, I have taken the statement “Make your mess your message” as my mantra. Throughout my career, it’s been a privilege to help others through their own transitions whether it be grief and loss, career changes or simply learning to deal with daily life.
One may not have a choice about what happens to them but there is a choice in how we respond. Although this blog often includes my personal experiences, I hope it helps others who are experiencing many of the same issues find hope and inspiration. There is always hope!
As everyone’s life is different, here you will not find an exact “how to” in regards to making a life. However, I share my own story of how I am attempting to make a life that is full of all of the pieces that make life happy, healthy and beautiful. I’m honest that sometimes it isn’t always pretty.
I believe we are each stronger than we think we are. I believe one has the power to make changes in their life and I believe there is a lot of life to be lived!
Let do this journey together!!
