Happy Friday Friends!
We had a jammed packed but wonderful weekend but lack of sleep made the beginning of the week difficult! I wouldn’t trade anyo of it but I’m not sure I felt “normal” until Thursday. I’m thinking a slower weekend is called for and also reminded I am not in my 20’s anymore.
Here’s a quick run through of some of my favorite things lately.
I woke up Tuesday morning to the first flower bloom in our backyard. Like many of my flowers, this Iris was a transplant from my Mom’s yard. If you follow me on Instagram, prepare for regular shares of daily blooms.
Bourbon and Friends
Sunday afternoon after the family Easter festivities, James and I attended The Lexington Bourbon Academy Cocktail Workshop at Bluegrass Tavern here in Lexington. We learned the history of the Mint Julep, Old Fashioned and the Manhattan. This is the third class that our friend John has created in the Bourbon Academy and not only is it educational but most importantly a fun time.
James joined the Lexington Bourbon Society over a year ago and we have met some of the most wonderful people we now consider friends. After the class, several of us had dinner in the bank vault (yes, the actual vault) at Lockbox, the restaurant at Lexington’s 21c Museum Hotel. For those that know me, a photo with the blue penguin was required.
If you have not read about Prince Harry discussing how he did not discuss his grief over Princess Diana’s death, please read this article. Prince Harry and his brother are helping to change the way mental health is viewed in this world. In this interview he states, “all of this grief that I have never processed started to come to the forefront and I was like, there is actually a lot of stuff here that I need to deal with,” There is no shame in receiving counseling. Already this week, I had a client discuss how it made him feel better to know that someone this well known is going through the same thing as he is.
If you are a blogger, chances are that you have utilized stock photos at one time or another. I found this post from Samantha at Elah Tree to be extremely useful. I also was reminded this week to watermark those personal photos and place on social media. I am not a professional photographer but am improving my skills. I shared a beautiful photo of a sunrise on Easter only to discover that someone later shared it on their own page as their own.
and now to end on a positive note
Car Dancing and Karaoke
Last week while waiting in a longer that usual drive through line at Starbucks, I was singing and dancing along to Outkast’s “I Like The Way You Move.” This is nothing new for me as I am known to do my own version of car pool karaoke and a little car dancing when at stop lights. When I pulled up to get my coffee the barista informed the car in front of me had paid stating “she wanted to pay for my drink because I looked so happy.”
When I posted this on Facebook another friend commented that she had been inspired to change what she listens to in the car. . I don’t sing in my car to get free drinks but because it makes me happy. (I would love to sing with James Corden) Do you sing or car dance? Let me know your favorite song to sing below.
