Happy Friday and Happy July!!!
I’m not sure when it became a joke among my friends that the month of July is the month of Sheryl. The Leo is me finds it important to celebrate my birth month and I do try to make the most of it. This year marks a milestone (gulp) birthday for me and as I know life is short, I plan on celebrating the gift of being around one more year.
As we prepare for the holiday weekend ahead, here are a few of my favorite things to begin my favorite month.
As with so many holidays, it can be easy to forget why we celebrate the Fourth of July. We can complain about politics, health care and everything else but we are fortunate enough to live in a country where our founding fathers wanted us to have the ability to complain about these issues without punishment. I’m always amazed at the bravery of those who came to this country not knowing what was here.
The photo of this flag was taken through the windshield of my car last week. It was a gloomy and windy day and while I sat at a stoplight, I looked up to see our flag blowing. It was truly beatuiful and this photo doesn’t do it justice.
If one planner is good, two is better. My calendar year begins in July but the Simplified Planner doesn’t begin until August. As a result, I also purchased the Day Designer at Target so I would have something for July. I’m not sure which one I will end up using more often and one may become my blog planner. Nonetheless, I am good for the next year.
I struggle with in constant inflammation and am always looking for new recipes to heal myself with food. AnnaMarie from FitFoodieMama shared this guest post on Healthy Helper and I certainly intend on trying a few of her recipes. If you struggle with allergies, I encourage you to check this post out.
Sweet Potatoes are an excellent alternative (and Paleo) for the holiday weekend. When I saw this post from Casey Leigh, I knew I had to pin it.
The Devil Wear Prada came out 10 years ago (seriously?) and I love this Huffington Post piece regarding life lessons. I certainly agree with number 5.
Song of the Week
I love Rihanna and I love Calvin Harris. Needless to say, I love This Is What You Came For – and I do a great version in my car. It’s on repeat for me.
