I am a huge fan of Thanksgiving and I am not one of those individuals who doesn’t start decorating for Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. This is the time of year to simply be grateful and if you are a regular reader you know I value gratitude and any time it can be the center of attention.
I’m hoping your first week of November has been great and you have found things for which to be grateful. I’m continuing to play off a theme I started a few weeks ago in regards to different types of therapy I’ve utilized during the week for self care! Here are some of my favorites for the week.
Last weekend, American Pharoah, the first Triple Crown Winner in 37 years, returned to Lexington to race his last race in the Breeder’s Cup at Keeneland. By winning each of these races, he has won the Grand Slam of American horse racing. He remarkably won the race in a track record. He is now retired and will be going to stud at a horse farm here in Kentucky.
I believe even if you know nothing about horse, you can look at American Pharoah and realize how special he is. He always has the stance of “So, I ran a race, It wasn’t hard!” My goal is to do a horse farm tour and see him in person.
I’ve liked my second Rocksbox much better than the first. My first pieces were so uninteresting that I wore only one and sent the rest back. Out of the second box, I’ve worn my earrings twice and am considering keeping them. I love the necklace but don’t have any need at this time for it. It’s fun to see what will be shipped each time. If you are considering Rocksbox, use SherylBFF11 for a free month.
Many people had never heard of Kentucky native Chris Stapleton until this AMAZING duet with Justin Timberlake on Wednesday’s Country Music Award Show. Chris Stapleton was a major winner at the CMA’s including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Even if you proudly state you don’t like country music, please do me a favor and listen to a little of this song. (PS, it’s totally worth it to listen to the whole piece).
Tomorrow is my Mom’s birthday and I’ve been missing her over the past few weeks. I always loved spoiling her with gifts she wouldn’t buy herself and I’m so glad I have those memories. We never ended a phone call without sharing that we loved each other. If you are fortunate enough to have one or both of your parents in your life, call them today and let them know you love them.
On another note, my Mother worked in Human Resources for the City of Richmond Kentucky, and this week the Richmond Police Department had a police officer shot in the line of duty. My Mom typically met with every police officer that was hired to initiate their paperwork and get them started. In fact, she knew most everyone that worked for the city. I know that she probably knew Officer Ellis and how upsetting this is for the whole community. Officer Ellis died early this morning from his injuries and leaves behind a wife and 3 year old son. Please say a prayer for his family and the whole Richmond community.
Now to end on a happy note!
