This weekend has been one of those times in life where I simply feel saying “Thank You” does not seem enough. I began celebrating my birthday on Thursday and continued with an abundance of blessings throughout the weekend.
Although I thought of my Mom and Nanny, this was the first birthday where I did not have the pain of missing them and wishing I could hear their voices. I was able to smile at the memories of past birthday parties and the thoughts of the homemade birthday cakes made by my Nanny. I am thankful for the wonderful life and family that I was given and the blessings of friends and the love of my husband.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve basically eaten my way through the weekend in both Lexington and Louisville (and I refuse to step on a scale). I’ve also been able to spend time with some of my favorite people who continue to sustain me and have become my family despite no biological connection.
As if the Sitsgirls knew it was my birthday, I woke up Saturday morning to discover one of my posts was featured on this week’s sharefest! (I’m considering it a birthday present)
I ended my weekend of celebrations enjoying the company of two wonderful friends and the comfort of my friend’s beautiful back porch. (Seriously, it is one of the most relaxing places.)
We ended our afternoon lunch with homemade ice cream and blueberry cobbler. (One knows they have a true friend when the friend goes out of her way to make gluten free blueberry cobbler.)
I am humbled by the thoughtfulness and love I have received from those of you in the blogging world that I have not had the opportunity to meet face to face. The wishes I have received validated the importance of acknowledging birthdays and significant days in the lives of friends.
I end this weekend full of gratitude and begin the new week with Emily’s grateful heart link up and hope for the year ahead.
