Today, as part of Mia’s and Vashelle’s Write or Die Wednesday, I am utilizing the journal technique of using a word and writing whatever my thoughts may be.This will be a timed write, another technique which allows the writer to express their thoughts without critiquing. Today’s word prompt is in the photo above.
I’m a summer girl. I don’t like snow. Of course, I live in a state that struggles with the smallest amount. Our cities become paralyzed and life becomes crazy. I suppose there was a time when I did like it, when I was little and there were snow days (there was always a lot of snow days).
I shivered tonight as I watched the national news and heard the new amount of snowfall for Boston. I simply couldn’t do it. Misery on all levels.
Yet, I am also learning to appreciate the beauty of fresh fallen snow. I love the beauty of the landscape when there are no footprints. I also love not having to leave my house. Snow days as an adult are truly wonderful but they are far and few between. Work rarely offers snow days – unless it’s a major storm.
As I write this, I acknowledge that I’m needing a snow day. We’ve been blessed with a very light winter and even the schools have had few of the typical snow days. It’s so important to take time off. The positive of having those snowed in days is that you are given permission to stop the normalcy of the day. In some ways, I truly miss snow days!
Take a few minutes to write down your own thoughts on snowfall!
