I am joining up again today with Shannon for her Write Yourself Happy link-up. She is providing weekly prompts to assist in establishing a journal writing practice.
Many people struggle with knowing what to write (or how to write) and a prompt can be the jumping off place. I encourage you to follow along with these prompts. You can link up with Shannon, leave a comment below or simply use the prompt for your own personal journal.
Today’s prompt is:
Think about tomorrow and everything you have planned. Write your day out with the best possible outcome down to every traffic light and interaction you have. Think about it, pray about it, or meditate about it and take that positive attitude with you all day.
This is a fantastic prompt to use if you are having anxiety regarding an upcoming day and the events you have planned. Remember that anxiety occurs when we spend too much time in the future thinking about what could possibly happen. Sadly, when we think about the future we often don’t imagine the positive things that could happen. Instead we focus upon the worse case scenarios or what could possibly go wrong. The above prompt encourages you to write out your “to do” list (that alone can decrease anxiety because we often find our list isn’t as long as it could be), and to imagine the positive interactions that can happen.
As I am on Spring Break this week, I have tried to schedule some light days for myself. I’ve enjoyed sleeping a little later and not having to rush anywhere. Tomorrow I have a client and after that I hope to do a work out. After that I am going to plan dinner as James and I haven’t had a true dinner together this week. Finally, I hope to complete my spreadsheet for all of the hours I have put into my Mom’s estate this past year. As I am almost complete, it will be easy to finish up and I know that I will be able to get all of the dates I fear I have forgotten.
