Is it really Friday again? It has felt good to have a busy and productive week and I hope your week has been good. This marks two weeks in a row that I’ve been able to join the Five on Friday link up.
There are a lot of things happening in Lexington this weekend.
1. BIG BLUE MADNESS
The whole state of Kentucky has been waiting for tonight’s event since the UK Men’s Basketball team didn’t make it into the NCAA tournament last year. Although many colleges have their own versions of this – only in Kentucky will you have over 24,000 people turn out to watch a basketball practice. This year a record of over 750 camped out for tickets to the event.
|Yes, people camp out in tents for tickets!!|
It is truly an awesome event that I personally think everyone should experience once. It’s a huge production involving both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams along with the award winning UK Cheerleaders (I believe they hold 15 out of the last 19 National Championships).
The UK Basketball Team is ranked # 1 in the Polls currently (and they weren’t ranked at the end of last season). Ah Basketball season in Kentucky!!!
2. COSTCO IS COMING
Today is the Grand Opening of Costco in Lexington! Needless to say, I am excited. For whatever reason, I have a love of superstores and this one is so close to my house! We might have just been part of the sneak peak last night also!! Gladly giving up my membership to Sam’s Club
3. WHAT I AM LOVING
In my October Birchbox, I received Dr. Brandt’s microdermabrasion scrub. I’ve only used it a few times and my skin already feels as if I’ve had a professional facial. More than likely something I am going to purchase after the sample is up. If you aren’t familiar with Birchox, after signing up and completing a profile, you receive a monthly box full of samples. It’s a small gift in the mail once a month!
4. I’M EXCITED ABOUT….
I am a huge fan of Tina Fey (yes, she would play me in a movie). She and Amy Poehler are set to host the Golden Globes again for the next two years.
Huffington Post shared this fantastic article ” Amy Poehler and Tina Fey Taught Us Everything We Need to Know About being a Women.” It’s a great read. Also, if you haven’t read Bossypants – you really need to!!
5. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…. Part 2
Our October Girls Night is this weekend and in addition to good food and drinks, we are preparing for the season and going on a ghost walk and tour of downtown Lexington!
Hoping you have a great weekend!!
